Meet Our President
Denise received her BSBA
degree from Auburn University with emphasis in accounting. She
is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of finance
and accounting experience in progressively responsible business
roles. She began her career with the international accounting
firm KPMG Peat Marwick. During her seven-year tenure with KPMG,
Denise was one of two individuals selected nationally for a
special assignment in the firm's national computer audit policy
area in the Department of Professional Practice located in New
York. While working in the Executive Office, Denise worked with
the team developing the national firm audit policy and
procedures and led national staff training courses.
Additionally, Denise served as Audit Manager for large and
small clients in international business, financial institutions,
insurance, medical services, manufacturing, real estate and
broadcasting.
Denise's corporate
accounting and finance management positions include working with
internationally know companies such as Northwest Airlines, Bank
of America, Phelps Dodge and Hewlett Packard. In addition to
working with the these large corporations, she has worked with
and consulted with small and medium size companies including her
role as controller during the initial public offering (IPO) of
Atlanta based biotechnology leader CryoLife®, Inc. For over
fifteen years, Denise has assisted start up companies set up
strong finance and accounting processes and procedures. Her
background is an outstanding combination of experience in large
to small and public or privately held companies to offer broad
based accounting and business advice to company management and
owners.
Denise is active in her
profession serving in many state and local volunteer positions
with the Georgia Society of CPAs. She is the past president of
the Atlanta Chapter after serving many officer and committee
chair positions. At the state level, she was a volunteer member
of the Council (formerly the Board of Directors) from 1992 to
2004 and the former Chairman of the CPAs in Industry, Government
and Education Committee. She was elected twice to serve on the
Georgia Society of CPAs State Nominating committee. Denise is
on the Board of Directors for the Educational Foundation and
chairs the Student Outreach Committee. On a national level,
Denise served for seven years on the editorial board for the
Journal of Accountancy and is a member of the American Institute
of CPAs. Northwest Airlines sponsored Denise as a participant
in the GA 100® mentoring program in 1997. She was a volunteer
mentor for the 2003 Deloitte & Touche External Women's Mentoring
program and continues to assist the young women she supported.
Denise is active in her community serving on the Board of
Directors and as volunteer Chief Financial Officer for Cochran
Mill Nature Center, a non-profit environmental education
organization located in Fulton County. Denise was honored as
Cochran Mill Nature Center 2001 Volunteer of the Year. Denise
is the past team captain for her ALTA and USTA tennis teams and
served as volunteer treasurer for Atlanta Symphony Associates.
